Imagine Cup Armenia

 

The Imagine Cup is an annual worldwide series of student technology competitions focused around Microsoft technology and encouraging young people to apply their imagination, their passion, and their creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference in the world. The competition has been running for 8 years now. Each year the World finals were being held in different countries. More than 300,000 students from over 142 countries entered the last year competition.

There are 5 different directions to compete with in the scope of Imagine Cup competition. One out of five directions, Software Design (SD) is executed on regional bases. The regional finalists are being promoted to the World Final.

SD will be executed on regional bases in Armenia by Microsoft local office and in cooperation with Enterprise Incubator Foundation.
This year, for the 3rd time, Imagine Cup will be executed on regional bases in Armenia. It is a chance for the country’s young professionals to compete with like-minded peers and to be recognized for the technical abilities by industry leaders and academics. Further to the regional competition the most successful team advance to the worldwide final in Warsaw, Poland, in July 2010.

The competition challenges talented teams to develop inventive projects, by developing innovative software applications, offer practical applicability to the suggested issues and present real-world solutions to real-world problems. The theme is "Imagine a world where technology helps solve the world's toughest problems." The applicants will compete by developing ground-breaking software solutions which are in line with the theme and challenging the problems facing our global society and identified by United Nations as Millennium Goals.

 

The main objective of the project is to gather the best programming talent in Armenia and provide a great opportunity to:

  • demonstrate and enhance their knowledge and skills in a real-world problem;
  • apply their genius and creativity in practice, while presenting real-world solutions to the real world problem;
  • get a chance to participate in the future of technology and software industry;
  • get trainings and use cutting – edge Microsoft platforms;
  • apply their new skills and knowledge to develop an innovative and creative solutions;
  • get a chance (under international theme) to participate and represent Armenia in the final stage of Imagine Cup international competition in Warsaw, Poland.
